Why Speed Skating?
Speed, technical work and precision come together to make one of the most exciting sports you’ll ever try. Speed skating is the fastest human-powered sport on the planet…and fast is FUN!
Try it Out!
Have you done some skating and want to try speed skating in the long blades? Our Learn to Speed Skate program for 8 on-ice sessions.
The fee includes OSSA/SSC membership and use of all necessary equipment. You just show up in athletic type clothes and give it a go!
If you decide to stay for the season (converting to our All Ages Development Program), the amount paid will be used to discount your season fees.

From the beginning skater through to the accomplished competitor, Kingston Striders offers something for everyone.
First strides &
Fast Strides
For younger skaters wanting to master their edges, we have two Learn to Skate programs created by Speed Skating Canada:
First Strides (ages 4-6):
30 minute classes, low skater : coach ratio
Fast Strides (skater can skate length of rink solo):
40 minute classes
All Ages Development
Learn to speed skate in our Development group. Sign up for a full season or an 8-week introductory trial.
Kids, parents, and grandparents can be on the ice all at the same time, since skaters are broken up into small groups based on size and skill level. A family
favourite!

Advanced
For those athletes seeking more sport-specific training, the advanced group offers
a combination of optional dryland and on-ice training.
Masters
Some skate for fitness, some skate to compete, all skate for fun. Come join fellow Masters!
