FAQ and Links

Common questions about registration and links to OSSA resources.

Registration will open in mid-summer for both new and returning members. Go to IceReg and follow the instructions there.

Yes! Would you like to try speed skating in the long blades, but aren’t sure about a whole season?

Our intro program is $200 for 8 sessions.  This fee includes OSSA/SSC membership and use of all necessary equipment.  You just show up in athletic type clothes and give it a go!

If you decide to stay for the season, the $200 will be used to discount your season fees.

If you are unsure of which program to register for please contact Sheri the Registrar (striders.registrar@gmail.com) and/or Ben the head coach (striders.coach@gmail.com) for advice and any other questions you have about how the program works.

Fees vary by program and by number of times a week you’d like to skate. Full fee schedule is available over on IceReg.

Yes, you can contact our registrar for a coupon code if you are registering three or more skaters.

Yes, we offer skate rentals. We will schedule a date for the fitting and rental afternoon closer to September, please watch our home page or our Facebook page for details.

Note that skaters in the Wee Blades and Small Blades programs wear hockey skates and must provide their own.

Please see the full schedule of days and times over on IceReg.

A note on fundraising: our fees are lower due to successful fundraising, particularly charitable bingos. Families with a skater in the Development, Advanced, or Masters programs are required to support our fundraising efforts by either volunteering to staff a fundraiser bingo, contributing to the fundraising committee or purchasing a fundraiser buy-out (can be purchased in the IceReg store.)

Only one such commitment is required per family.  Wee, Small Blades and Intro families do not need to do fundraising (unless they have a skater in an upper year program).

The required equipment varies by program – please see individual program pages for a list of the equipment requirements for that program.
