First Strides
Learn to Skate in First Strides!
Do you have a little one (aged 4-6) interested in learning to skate? In our First Strides program, they can master their balance, push and glide, turning and stopping as they become independent skaters.
Skaters learn basic skating skills and work their way through four levels of the First Strides segment of the program. Coaches will guide participants through each skating milestone – from their first steps on the ice, to gliding forward and backward around the rink. Levels 1-4 of the program are delivered on ice skates.
Our low-ratio program focuses on confidence building and skill development through fun activities and games. Skaters are organized in small groups according to age and skill level.
More information about the First Strides program can be found on the Speed Skating Canada Website.
